The cathedral and the Pendentif
Saint-Apollinaire Cathedral, consecrated in the 11th century, watches over the old centre with its simple Romanesque silhouette. Right next to it, the Pendentif, a small Renaissance funerary monument, surprises with the fineness of its carvings. Taking the time to walk around it, then pushing on to Place des Clercs, offers a peaceful route, ideal for a first date where you learn to talk to each other without hurrying.
The Maison des Têtes and the Côtes du Rhône
On Rue Pérollerie, the Maison des Têtes displays carved faces of famous men and allegories across its 16th-century façade, a pure wonder. Not far away, the Côtes du Rhône reveal a striking view of Crussol Castle, perched opposite the town. Climbing to the upper terraces of Valence at sunset is already a promise of a second date on your invitation.
From the Peynet bandstand to the Champ de Mars
On the Champ de Mars, the Peynet bandstand entered legend thanks to the famous lovers drawn by Raymond Peynet. People meet there as a romantic wink, before heading down to the park beside the Rhône. On Lyad, members from Valence share their favourite walks around the old centre; it is up to you to find someone to stroll with under the plane trees.
